Welcome To The Growth Gazette Blog!
This blog is designed especially for young adults seeking to transform past adversities into opportunities for self-improvement, clarity, growth, and personal transformation.
If you are feeling directionless, unseen, hopeless, lost, confused, isolated, alone, or unfulfilled, you've come to the right place.
Through the lens of my personal experiences—traveling to 14 countries, pursuing a career in acting, growing up with a single mother and drug addicted and alcoholic father, and overcoming the loss of a close friend—I understand the importance of facing fears and seeking personal growth. With the guidance of a life coach, I found my way to a more fulfilling, purpose-driven life.
I grew up with ADD and was labeled to have a learning disability. Always struggling with school and barely passing any of my classes. I got arrested multiple times when I was a teenager and got expelled from my school district.
But, I overcame all that. One day while in a drunk tank after being arrested for the 6th time at the age of 16, I said enough is enough.
I began to change the story that I was telling myself, diving deep into non-fiction books, taking courses, getting coached, and changing my belief system and mindset.
Now, I am here to help you do the same. At The Growth Gazette, you'll find:
Join our community and unlock your potential. Embrace the journey of self-discovery and transformation. Let's work together to set clear goals, find your true purpose, and create a positive impact in your life and the world.
Welcome aboard! Let’s grow together.
Self-reflection is a powerful tool that allows us to gain clarity, deepen our self-awareness, and unlock our true potential.
Taking the time to pause, breathe, and reflect can be a transformative act of self-care that guides us on a journey of personal growth and empowerment.
One particularly impactful technique that can enhance our self-reflection practice is stream of consciousness journaling.
Self-reflection is like holding up a mirror to our innermost thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. It enables us to explore our emotions, identify patterns, and gain insights into our desires and fears.
Having a conversation with ourselves, getting something off our chest, and leaving it behind on the page.
By dedicating time to reflect on our experiences and inner world, we can cultivate a deeper understanding of ourselves and our aspirations.
We can relief stress, confusion, and overwhelm by allowing our thoughts to flow freely onto the page. Stream-of-conciseness journaling is by far my favourite form of journaling.
Stream of consciousness journaling is a liberating practice that involves writing down our thoughts as they flow naturally, without filtering or editing.
It's a raw and unfiltered stream of our innermost contemplating, emotions, and reflections. This form of journaling can help us tap into our subconscious mind, uncover hidden beliefs, and gain clarity on our deepest desires and fears.
It can help us solve problems and release tensions we might have been holding onto.
Create a Sacred Space: Find a quiet corner where you can be alone with your thoughts and emotions. You can set the mood with calming music, candles, or any elements that help you feel relaxed and focused. I either listen to deep meditative music on Spotify or sit in silence.
Begin Writing: Start by putting pen to paper and allowing your thoughts to flow freely. Write without judgment, without worrying about grammar or coherence—simply let your stream of consciousness guide your pen.
Keep the Momentum: Write continuously, without pausing to reread or edit. Allow your thoughts to lead the way, exploring different topics, emotions, and reflections as they arise. Do this for a minimum of three pages to allow yourself to get into the flow of things.
Reflect and Learn: After your stream of consciousness writing session, take a moment to reflect on what you've written. Notice any recurring themes, emotions, or insights that emerge from your unfiltered thoughts.
Embrace Authenticity: Allow yourself to be vulnerable and open in your writing. This is a safe space for you to express your true thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.
Let Go of Perfectionism: Release any self-criticism or perfectionist tendencies. Stream of consciousness journaling is about authenticity and honesty, not perfection. Do not go back or second guess if you should write down what you are thinking.
Stay Committed: Make stream of consciousness journaling a regular practice in your routine. Consistency can lead to deeper insights and a greater sense of self-awareness.
Trust Your Intuition: Trust that your subconscious mind holds valuable insights. Allow yourself to explore and uncover hidden truths through your stream of consciousness writing.
Stream of consciousness journaling can be a transformative practice that deepens our self-awareness, heals emotional wounds, and fosters personal growth.
By embracing this technique, we can tap into our inner wisdom, overcome self-doubt, and unlock our inner strength.
Dedicate time each day to connect with your thoughts, emotions, and desires through this liberating form of journaling. Trust in the process, trust in yourself, and witness the magic of self-discovery unfold.
In all honesty, my mind used to feel like a minefield full of angry, aggressive, and awful thoughts and images.
I would also hold onto any sort of negative emotions and instead of expressing it, I’d just hide it inside of myself and hold it in.
Putting up a wall around myself to protect me from others so they couldn’t see my hurt or anger because I felt a lot of weakness from it.
It wasn’t until I lost my friend to cancer and went backpacking with a journal he bought me as a christmas present before he passed did I begin my journey of self-awareness, self-reflection and self-discovery.
I learned so much about myself as I went from country to country, spending time alone with my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.
I wrote in that journal every single day. Sometimes multiple times a day. And every single time I felt like a weight was being taken off my shoulders, and a curtain for my life was being raised.
It helped me overcome the quick and sudden loss of one of my closest friends.
Of the image of my sister who was his fiancé crying and clutching onto his body for dear life the moment he was gone.
It helped with my past and how I view my experiences, my circumstances in the moment, and my thoughts and images of my future. Making everything more clear, like I was talking with a close friend, maybe my close friend, and they were helping me see it from a different perspective.
I’m hoping that this post can do the same thing for you too.
The book "The Artist's Way" was a book that was recommended to me when I was on my creative journey as an actor.
This book not only tough my stream-of-conciseness journaling, but it also taught me the power of self-reflection and how to not only dig deep into my mind, but also how to creatively express myself and make self-care a bigger priority in my life.
I think every one should read this book, do the 12 week steps and apply the tools to a better understanding of ourselves.
Below is an image that is linked to the book on Amazon - I personally make a commission off of this link. I hope you get the book and apply the steps as I believe it will change the way you see yourself and just how talented you single mommas truly are.
